PeachPubTildeFriendsScuttlebuttLimitations & Alternatives

The current form of PeachCloud (in 2025) is a web interface for managing a tildefriends Scuttlebutt pub, that can be installed via a yunohost application or via a bash script (instructions are here).

After installing and logging in, you should see this interface: /assets/main-interface-2.png

In the top left icon, peers, you can select invites, to generate an invite code which can then be sent to friends or yourself to connect their Scuttlebutt client (e.g. Patchwork, Tildefriends or Manyverse) to your PeachCloud pub.

From the top icon, profile, you can set the name and description of your pub.

From the top right icon, private messages, you can send private messages from your pub to any ssb user.

From the bottom left icon, status, you can see how much space your pub is using, and how many messages are stored.

From the bottom right icon, settings, you can configure the settings for your scuttlebutt pub (e.g. number of replication hops), add an administrator to your pub (for the purpose of password resets), and stop and restart the tildefriends sbot.

The current status of tildefriends sbot is indicated by the face in the middle (green means running, orange means stopped, and red means broken).

In the background, your pub will continue replicating posts between any peers within the configured "hops" (default is two) distance from anyone connected to the pub, serving as an always-on relay in a peer-to-peer network.

That's it — it's a simple and minimal web interface for pub management.
